More or less everyone knows some of the elements needed.
It is good to have a left or right sidebar. The site bar maybe exists info about with:
- most popular articles
- popular photos
- statistics elements
- voting sections
- and more
On the central page maybe
- articles with photos
- articles with videos
- live video streams
- and more
The articles it is good to include videos(Youtube, Vimeo, e.t.c.), audio, photos, and comments area.
You must have categories and tags, so is needed
- filter for categories
- filter for tags
- cloud of categories
- cloud of tags.
The filters and clouds are good to be in the sidebars.
At the bottom of an article or at the sidebar must exist a list of relative articles.
The articles must list in reverse Chronological order, or depending on the nice needs and may have custom fields for mails, phones, e.t.c.
On the top, or bottom, or in the sidebar can exist Menus
- Primary Menu
- User Menu
- Main Menu
- Sidebar Menu
- Footer Menu (one or more)
- and more.
The site may have a collection of users’ mails in order to populate a local or third-party Mail list.
The theme used must be responsive, and operates in many different screen formats.
The colors of the site must have a positive look.
The site must have a Privacy Policy page and a Terms and Conditions page.
The site must have a way to inform users about cookies.
And must exist a Facebook Group or other social media activity to inform about new articles.
A new site that I have converted to Video Blog (most articles are Videos on WEB tech) is
based on Joomla 3, Kunena forum, and K2 blog extension, take a look.
